About the Artist.
Ayanna Johnson is a cartoonist, illustrator, author, and designer from Teaneck, NJ. She attended the Savannah College of Art & Design, and received a B.F.A degree in Sequential Art/Communication Arts. She works everyday to create her own artistic language – a vibrant, expressive interplay between vivid colors and bold line work.
Growing up in New York City with musician parents, Ayanna has been creatively nurtured all her life. She loves childlike illustration, watercolor painting, and branding. A self-described flower child, Ayanna is an earthy, nostalgic artist who refers to her mixed lineage, vintage cartoons, grindhouse, jazz, and synthpop for inspiration.
Ayanna's art has been published online and offline in works such as; the Dates Anthology, From Sweet Tea to BD, Crayon et Encre, and The Biology of Beating Stress. She currently resides in New York with her cat, looking for both full time and freelance work.
